Quick visit to Bhardra Nature Camp
Bhadra situated in the midst of Western Ghat in Chikmagalur and Shimoga districts of Karnataka is surrounded by lofty hill ranges of Mullaianagiri, Hebbegiri, Gangegiri & Babaudangiri. and also the picturesque Bhadra river and its tributaries like Somavahini, Thadabehalla and Odirayanahalla.
If you need a refreshing swim in the river, watch a Hornbill sip the rain, follow the majestic Malabar squirrel along the forest canopy, reel in the great Mahaseer; Bhadra River Camp is truly a place like no other and we mean it in every sense of the word.
Tucked deep inside Western Ghats, the camp lies at the very epicenter of one of world's richest bio-diversity hot-spot. Home to countless, magnificent species of birds, fishes and animals, the place is a true paradise for nature lovers. Six kilometers of the safe Bhadra river flows through this thousand acre camp which has been maintained and preserved so well, you would find it hard to believe its very existence. You will find no plastic here and everything we use at the camp is organic.
The place isn't a jungle lodge or a resort. As part of the village forest committee, what this initiative is , is an agreement between the locals and the government bodies. Much of the money drawn from the camp goes towards local human and forest development. Towards better roads, better schools, better protection of the wild life from poachers, fires, re-plantation of burnt forest strips, balancing of the river eco-system and the like. But what this gives you as a guest is a chance rarely possible till now.
