Kaurava Kunda Trek - The Twin Hills
I had marked this hills on couple of occasions when traveling on the NH7 highway and also during the Jaramadugu falls trek. The trails in the forests gave a close encounter of the kaurava kunda hills. So what next, the very weekend we were there on the hills.
Kaurva Kunda is quite a beautiful but less known trekking destination from Bangalore. It is located around 70 kms from Bangalore in Chikkaballapur district. The Twin hills are named after the Pandavas and the Kauravas from Mahabaratha. This place is more popular for night Treks. We as usual started at 4Am in the morning and reached the base by 6 Am and started trek in bit dark.
The Trail starts from Sonnenahalli Village and one can park near the village and start trek, there are some sandy steps which lead you to the Shiva Temple quarter way up the Hill, also there is road up to this temple too. From there the climb could be tricky since it is not so popular location, the trails are not established, so can get lost at multiple occasions. However it is not very big hills, so can take natural directional approach to ascent. The initial climb goes on top of first hills and then the shola valley leads to another hills, which is the summit.
These twin peaks, named after the mythological characters – the Kauravas and Pandavas, are located at around 70 km from Bangalore in the district of Chikkaballapur.
